3 Simple Blogging Lessons We Can Learn From “The Writer”

Blogging and Writing are two different fields which seems like having two many similarities, So do you think that every Blogger who writes on their blog is a writer?

According to Wikipedia, A writer is a person who produces nonfictional or literally art such as stories, novels, essays, poetry and someone who writes professionally. That doesn’t mean that we can call a writer everyone who writes on their blog.

I have spent a lot of time and did really hard work to improve my writing skills. I’ve read many writing blogs and books and now I’m feeling that my writing is becoming little better than before, but I still have long miles to go!

If you want to be a better writer than you must work hard to make your writing better. If you spend some time on your writing skills than you can be one of the great writer because being a writer is not hard, but sitting to write something daily is hard. Goinswriter is one of my favorite writing blog which has many killer writing tips for everyone who wants to be a better writer.

Blogging lesson from writer

So, let’s come to the point. A world of professional writing also holds the greatest Blogging and marketing lessons which can be applies to your blog.

There are 3 simple Blogging lessons which we can learn from “The writer”.

1. Believe in yourself!

Writers believes in themselves.

They write they write confidently and courageously without making apologies.

So, if you want to be a better Blogger, you must believe in yourself and keep hard working instead of thinking that Blogging is difficult and you can’t do it.

If you are not going to call yourself a Blogger than how are you expecting others to call you a Blogger? If you are going to do that’s worth anything, you’re going to have to do same, even you have to fake it at first.

You are a blogger when you say you are. Screw what everyone else say!

2. Love Your Passion:

Writers love to write!

Writers are not writing for money or for anything else, they are writing because they it’s their passion. They write in all situations, When they feel boring they write, when they feel alone they write, when they disappoint they write and when they got something new to say they write it.

So, do you love to blog?

In order to be a long time Blogger the first thing to keep in mind is that you must love Blogging. If you love what you’re doing than you will be a successful in your field.

You don’t need to be rich to be happy, instead you need to love what you are doing.

Without passion, you don’t have energy. Without energy you have nothing! – Warren Buffet

3. Stick with it:

Your passion is something which can take you to greatest heights if you find it and stick with it.

As I said before Blogging is not a “get rich quick” scheme. It needs a lot of time and hard work to be a successful Blogger. Follow your passion and do things which you love, the success will follow you!.

You are nuts and you should be proud of it. Stick with what you believe in. – Trip Hawkins

Hey Hyden, Everyone can be a good writer. They need to work for it, only hoping isn’t going to help.

  7. July 31, 2012 at 7:53 pm #

Believing in yourself is really important when it comes to content writing.

I’m a content writer myself and originally I was charging very little for my articles because I didn’t really believe that they could be better than all other writers content. A few months later I realised from all of the positive reviews that I could easily charge more and still be seen as a cheap writer for the quality of work that I was providing.

    • July 31, 2012 at 8:44 pm #

Hey Jamie, You are right on this. Believing in yourself is must in not only blogging, but in every field of life.

Thanks for sharing your thought here.

haha I like the first one

“You are a Blogger when you say you are. Screw what everyone else say!”

It reminds me of the Mark Zuckerburg business card that said

    ” I’m CEO B@#$h ”

Nice article. Along with Geeky writer, you can also include writetodone. It is amazing writing blog that’s owned by the zen master himself Leo Babauta.

This is true, if we are not going to call ourselves a blogger, than how should we expect others to call us what we want to hear.:D

I already know about Writetodone website. It is really an amazing blog about writing where one of my favorite writing superstar “Ali Luke” also writes, but the GeekyWriter is my personal friend’s blog and this post is written for the contest which is running by GeekyWriter.

      Anyway, thanks for stopping by.

    Great tips Ehsan!

Being a blogger/writer is a lot of hard work, so you must enjoy writing. You constantly have to produce new content, so if that seems like too much hard work, people shouldn’t bother blogging. Bloggers have to be passionate about what they are writing about, otherwise they will just give up.

    Good post :)

I was and am never scared of blogging, I love it just like I eat food everyday. What I try personally is not to write everyday or simply give yourself a brainstorm session. First, you have to read, read and read.

You read not just for info, but to learn those intricate and tiny methods which make all those A-List bloggers a big success. So, From what I observed, simplicity and a genuine flow in language can come a long way.

What you’ve mentioned here is a really personal thing, which is the underlying basis for every blogger. You have to be motivated, may not be everyday but to at least succeed in your long-term goals. Plus passion counts as well, without that, there’s no desire, no fun and blogging can be the most boring thing on this planet.

Excellent post, well pointed out concepts and you can certainly improve a lot, you’re doing pretty well as of now. Good Luck!

    • July 18, 2012 at 4:45 pm #

Hello Aditya, What a great comment my friend. Thank you very much for adding value to the post.
I also love Blogging and I can’t live without my blog for one day, not even for one hour.
I also read more than write because it increases the knowledge and it also has a lot of other benefits which I can’t mention in this comment. My posting schedule is also not daily. I write 3 or 4 times a week and If I received guest posts than maybe 5 posts a week.

I’m glade you liked my point. As I said many times before following your passion is the only key to success in Blogging.

Thanks bro for your comment, I really appreciate it.

Hey Farouk, I’m glade you liked the post bro.
Passion is power, passion is energy and the passion is that which can be the responsible of our successful life or our failure life.

We can be a successful if we follow our passion and do the things which is necessary.
I really appreciate your comment Farouk.

  15. July 18, 2012 at 5:58 am #

I always believe that if you’re passionate about something then you will stick to it no matter how many hurdles you face. If you give up then it means that it was a flirtation and not a serious affair. A blogger should choose a niche about which he or she is passionate. It will lead to success eventually

    • July 18, 2012 at 8:46 am #

      Hey Aniruddha,

I agree with you man. A passion is something which can bring success to our life if we follow it.

    July 3, 2012 at 4:45 pm #

    Hmm,

Ehsan, you’re dead right about being yourself if you want to be a writer or blogger. Without that belief, you will never be able to do anything. Of course, there are many who better writers or bloggers than you, but none can be you. That is your unique advantage.

I consider myself a writer with 2 unpublished works in my kitty. But since I began blogging I must say my writing style has improved. And this is where I want to say that possibly that definition from Wikipedia will soon be outdated! I’m sure that entry was made when bloggers were not this popular. Some day some will look into it and add blogging to the list of writers.

    Thanks for this great post.

    • July 3, 2012 at 5:06 pm #

      Hi again Chadrack,

I’m glade to know that you found this post great, and yes you should be able to belied in yourself to be get to the list of elite Bloggers. I’m really happy to hear that Blogging improved your writing style, I also felt after few months of Blogging that my writing is getting better than before.
I also think that the definition will be outdated, but till now it isn’t!

      Appreciate you stopping by Chadrack.

    Great post Ehsan…

According to me Blogging is all about passion…..without passion you will be one of those million blogger who quit blogging within 6 month of their start.

    Blogging require extreme passion.

    • July 2, 2012 at 5:07 am #

Yeah “Follow your passion, success will follow you” that is the quote which I like most and heard from many places.

No matter we’re writing about which topic, but we must enjoy writing. If we are not enjoying what we’re doing than we aren’t going to stick what we are doing for a long time.

      Thanks for stopping by.

I hate my writing assignments and things for my college classes. I find myself to be a great writer (I run two blogs and I have an eBook in the works), but my college professors want scholarly papers. I do think that “writing” and “blogging” are two different things.

    • July 1, 2012 at 3:45 pm #

Writing and Blogging are really two different things. As I said in my post that every one start a blog isn’t a writer.
      Thanks for your comment Ian.

    Ehsan,

Life is about Passion just as being a successful writer is… It’s all funneled through the channel of emotion.

Couldn’t agree with you more my man!

  26. June 30, 2012 at 5:47 pm #

Writing is the best weapon of any blogger, or even an internet marketeer for that matter.
Polishing your writing skills and delving deeper into the art of copywriting is the quickest and by all means safest way to build trust, authority, to persuade, to eventually sell.
Being ignorant and testing the resolve in this matter is to an extent a sure way to push mediocre content out there on the shelf, which in turn will ruin the chances for your blog to become something in the future.

    • June 30, 2012 at 5:58 pm #

To the first part, I would add that it is important to be self-critical, at times, as well. Otherwise you will only listen to what others tell you, on how to improve… which might help optimize your current approach, but not get you to “where you want to go” in the end!

    • June 29, 2012 at 9:26 pm #

      Hi JohannQ,

In all fields of life we must love what we do, If we don’t than we must leave what we do. We must not do it for money.

I also agree with the first part of this post. If we are not going to call us a writer, than how should we expect others to call us a writer.

Great motivational line right there! I’d definitely move forward and not be affected by anyone when I start blogging. If ever they say something about me, I’d treat it as some sort of a piece of info that can help me improve in such a way that even they would be pleased by whatever I’m posting. Another way would be using those negative comments as an inspiration for a very positive post.

      Hello Fred,

You are a writer. If you write.

You are a great write. If you write and care about your readers.

Writers job is to write and if you write then you are a write. The only difference you and great writers have is that they write more then you and have some experiences that you lack of. But the time and practice will also make you a great writer if you want to.

To be a better writer you don’t have to climb Mount Everest and prey. All you’ve to do is keep writing. :)

        Hello Romy,

Great words bro, I must say that I will focus more on writing because I love it. You’ve shared an awesome tip with me here.

  45. June 22, 2012 at 1:03 am #

Hey Ehsan, many writers are introverts and tend to lack confidence. Myself included. To prove a point, ask any consistent writer how many unfinished drafts he or she has. This is now always because we don’t know which direction to take our stories; it’s because of confidence.

And as a blogger, it took a while e to really voice my thoughts because the world was reading. I’m not vulgar or anything but I have really strong opinions. I’ll talk about topics no one else wants to speak of – race, discrimination, stereotypes and other “touchy” subjects. At first I was afraid to say things because of my business, but I realize that people who want to work with me, will. If not, they won’t. So, you have to grow in confidence.

    • June 22, 2012 at 5:52 am #

Thank you very much for your thouts Marcie. Yeah peoples who want to work with you will read whatever yot write.
Your comment gave me some new ideas Marcie. Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment here.

      Hello Marice,

Yeah! You are right. If we want to stand out then we have to be specific, different, say to what others afraid say and say it in our own way, in our own voice.

We all are writers and our work is to say what others can’t say. Some people will like it and some will not. But it doesn’t matters because with few art lovers we get few art haters free. :)

Hello Ehsan, i am agree with you blogging need passion, love and pretty skills, most of the blogger nowadays are not good writers and not have more qualification just have the basic qualification. Mainly they have knowledge about blogging and interest on which they right on their blog. I think blogging need knowledge not writing skills etc.

      Hello Zaheer,

if you have knowledge on something and you don’t have good writing style, you are not adding you value to your content than no one will like to read your blog.

I’m not saying that you must be a professional writer to be able to blog. I mean to say that writing skills is needed is that you must be able to convince your readers with your writing style. Hope you got my point.

I got your point, but a professional writer which haven’t skills to convey message never be a blogger. He or She may write well but never inspire anyone from their skills.

        • June 22, 2012 at 3:33 pm #

Yeah I agree with you, but if someone became a writer and don’t have skills to convey message than they can write about the topic in which they’re passionate about. I mean they can make a blog on writing tips.

      Hello Zaheer,

At some extent you are right. We all needs knowledge to do anything in our life even if we want to cut mangoes then we’ve to learn, know how to cut mangoes in a way that our fingers be on safe side.

“Knowledge is most important part of anyone’s life. But we also have to know that how should we put our knowings in a way that it benefits us as well as others.”

And blogger do this. Bloggers keep learning knowing new things to increase their brain size. But many bloggers gets failed to put their knowing in a way that it attracts people and gives them what they want.

so, knowledge is important. But more important thing is how we use the knowledge.

If you know A+B=C and write it in a normal non interesting way then nobody will like to read it. But if you explain it differently, interestingly then people love you.

So, Writing also matters. The best example I can give is why we like to read some books? Why some books become best selling books and many floats like dust. Just think about you will find the correct answer for your question. :)

I am agree with you Romy, the way of convey is also much important so, i would like to say these two things are relevant to each other, depend on each other.

    Great tips Ehsan!

I know that when I started blogging I never considered myself a writer. I think a lot of people feel this way too.

Maybe with a blog we feel it’s more us and not so professional or at least that’s the way it should be.

Be yourself is so dead on. Put your own personality into your writing and remember, write like you’re talking to your good friends because hopefully, that’s what everyone will eventually become.

Thanks for sharing this with us and love it Ehsan.

      Hello Adrienne,

I’m fully agree with you. What we say not matter that much as compared to how we say it. Be Polite, Be interesting, Be Funny with your writing. And most important be you because real you is much better then copied one.

      Hello Sian.

“To Be Good Writer First We Have To Be A Good Reader.”

The more you read the more you know. The more you know the better you write. The better you write the more audience you will have.

Writing and reading are 2 main parts of any writers life. :)

Thanks for entry. Now promote it very hard to be a winner.. :)

  50. June 21, 2012 at 3:47 pm #

    Hey Ehsan,

Self believe plays a crucial role in how we progress our writing skills.
We must have reassurance in our own abilities, we write and people read.
    That’s all that matters.

Thanks for your suggestions Simmeon, In my opinion the no. 1 way to improve writing skills is to read read read.
